To be held at the headquarters of NCERT, the event is scheduled on 20th March.
The purpose of this visit, as stated on the official website, is to enhance the knowledge-base of the students about the role of Information & Communication Technology(ICT) in education especially e-pathshala, SWAYAM, SWAYAM Prabha, NROER, Hands-on teacher training course.
The purpose was also to visit the Educational Kits Division and appreciate low-cost effective teaching aids to teach the students.
Division of Educational Kits(DEK), previously known as NIE-Workshop was conceived in 1964 to provide academic assistance in designing and development of science equipment. The main objectives were outlined as:
- To study teaching equipment in science.
- To design, develop, make experimental trials in schools for testing the designs and production.
Since then, it has been one of the important divisions of NIE, NCERT responsible for augmenting improvement in teaching-learning in the field of school education supporting print media through hands-on experience by design, development and prototype production of school equipment in the form of kits.
Such kinds of visits are a welcome step towards creating a greater understanding between the subjects and the teachers with the ICT of things.
The NCERT Visit is scheduled for a one day event on the 20th March between 2PM to 4 PM.
