After 2002 and 2007, this is the third time India is invited as the guest country at the prestigious event.
Earlier this January, the organizers of the Paris Book Fair declared that India will be the guest of honour at the latest instalment of the event, to be held in March this year.
As part of the honour, 30 Indian authors with different linguistic traditions, alongside 15 prestigious Indian publishers will be featured at the centre stage. Themes like, ”Writing and rewriting India’s history”, “India of tomorrow” will be explored at the fair organized from 20th to the 23rd March.
As an extension to the honour bestowed upon India, around 20 new titles and 15 books in various Indian languages will be translated into French. The organisers also added that the aim of the decision is to create a special “Indian moment” in France with cultural programmes across various landmarks and places of cultural value in Paris and other cities.
As a result of this cultural exchange, France is expected to be the guest of honour at the New Delhi World Book Fair 2022.
